The pair decided to visit Jeffrey Xu’s family despite the passing of Felicia Chin’s coach during the festive period
Fans of Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu have been concerned about the couple’s lack of social media updates in the past week or so, after her softball coach passed away over the festive period.
Speaking to Toggle during her imaging session for her upcoming Channel 8 drama, she confessed that while it has been a “tough” period for both her and Jeffrey, having each other’s support during this difficult time has helped with the grieving process.
“Although Jeffrey has only known her for about one year-and-a-half, he’s her god-son so he has definitely been affected as well,” the 32-year-old shared. “It’s been a really busy time for the both of us so I haven’t really had time to process everything that has happened.”
Having dealt with the death of a loved one so early on in the year, Felicia mused that she is looking forward to playing her character, who she described as a tomboyish, bubbly person. “I’ve been playing roles that have to go through different stages in life and deal with issues such as depression, so this is the first time in a while that I’ve played such a (happy) character,” she explained. “I hope I’ll be able to absorb the good energy that will come from the role as well.”

Both Jeffrey and Felicia's parents, along with the couple, cozy up for a group shot
Given that Coach Jo’s passing happened just before her planned trip to Shanghai to meet Jeffrey’s family, Felicia explained that they changed their plans at the last minute. Both she and her mother were initially slated to jet to Shanghai with Jeffrey to visit his family over the Chinese New Year period on January 29, but all three of them decided on changing their travel plans.
“He was really close to her as well, and I think he felt that he needed to be with me as well, so we both stayed in Singapore until after her cremation,” she let on.
However, the trio ultimately decided to fly there at a later date, as “Jeffrey’s family really misses him, especially since they only get to see him once a year”. They left Singapore on January 31 and returned on February 5.

“His family was pretty disappointed (because) we were planning to have dinner with eight tables of his extended family members, but because of the change in date we only met around three table of his family members instead,” the actress explained.
With many of Jeffrey’s younger cousins married with children, the pair was inevitably asked about their plans to tie the knot and continue the family name.
“Jeffrey is the only male grandson on his side of the family, so there is definitely some concern in that aspect,” Felicia chuckled. “But Jeffrey and I have come to a consensus and tell everyone that asks that we will only tie the knot when the time is right (…) maybe in the next few years.”
